Charter Senior Living is celebrating our Activity Professionals this week!! They are part of a vitally important profession that helps people live a life that is rich in purpose and meaning through engaging activities and programs. To our professionals, you are truly the heart and soul of our communities. We encourage you to take a minute to acknowledge the great work you do, celebrate your successes, and give yourself and your teams the credit deserved for enhancing the human spirit of those you serve.
Danny, Memory Care Director at Park Louisville, uses music extensively with the residents: Weekly Concert, Name That Tune, Karaoke, Exploring Music, previously writing a song with residents, and more. Music is just one resource we use to engage with our residents. Come enjoy a concert on Friday afternoons.

“National Someday We’ll Laugh About This” Week encourages people to put their past worries in the past by laughing at them and moving on. The very fact that this celebration falls in the first week of a new year is a sign that our Charter Senior Living Teams are “in with the new and out with the old,” WITH A LAUGH!!
”The famous Italian diver Enzo Maiorca dove into the sea of Syracuse and was talking to his daughter Rossana who was aboard the boat. Ready to go in, he felt something slightly hit his back. He turned and saw a dolphin. Then he realized that the dolphin did not want to play but to express something. The animal dove and Enzo followed. At a depth of about 12 meters, trapped in an abandoned net, there was another dolphin. Enzo quickly asked his daughter to grab the diving knives. Soon, the two of them managed to free the dolphin, which, at the end of the ordeal, emerged, issued an "almost human cry" (describes Enzo). (A dolphin can stay under water for up to 10 minutes, then it drowns.) The released dolphin was helped to the surface by Enzo, Rosana and the other dolphin. That’s when the surprise came: she was pregnant! The male circled them, and then stopped in front of Enzo, touched his cheek (like a kiss), in a gesture of gratitude and then they both swam off. Enzo Maiorca ended his speech by saying: “Until man learns to respect and speak to the animal world, he can never know his true role on Earth." ~ Vangelis.” ... See MoreSee Less

This fine young man came into my life 5 years ago. He Walked up behind me with a hair cut that was 5 months past due and a big hole in his shirt & one sock on his foot. He tugged on the back of my shirt and said, sir can you teach me how to play football. I responded- son I teach a lot more then just how to play football. His response was OK. I then said son where is your mom and dad at football isn't cheap? He responded My mom died and I don't know where dad is, but my Auntie takes care of me. God spoke to me that second and told me to take care of him in every way. God said to me "be a Shepard". Not knowing that day The lord gave me another son who would change me and him for ever. I have never been more proud to sit at a 8th grade promotion as I was today. I reflected on the 4 national titles and all the state championships we won together. But I reflected most on how Jesus dropped him into my life like a stork from the sky and how far he has come since that day. God gave him the best Aunt you can ever ask for. I Love you Marquise! And the Lord gave us 4 more years of HS football together.
